Vadodara: In-Form Deepak Hooda‘Quickfire 75 and bowlers’ brilliant performance helped Rajasthan Rajasthan register easy 30-run win Haryana in your last Elite C group game and qualify for the knockout stage Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Here on Tuesday.
Rajasthan are at the top of the group with 20 points after being unbeaten in the league stage.
Coming to bat, Rajasthan scored 155 for six after Hooda’s 47-ball 75, and then Mohit Jain (4/14) took four wickets to bundle out the opposition for 125 runs.
Rajasthan lost openers Yash Kothari (3) and Ashok Menaria (0) early and could manage to score 4 for 2.
But then in-form Mahipal Lomror (46) and Hooda put on an 87-run partnership for the third wicket to strengthen the team.
While Lomror hit five fours and a six, Hooda hit five fours and four sixes as he toyed with the opposition’s attack.
Once Lomror was trapped in front of the wicket by rival skipper Harshal Patel, Hooda held himself up and ensured that his bowlers had a decent total to defend.
Chasing a target of 156, Haryana lost captain Harshal Patel (14) cheaply. His opening partner Chaitanya Bishnoi (41) tried to take the game deeper but was not supported by others as the Rajasthan bowlers scored runs.
Haryana was never in a position to chase comfortably and suffered a collapse of the middle and lower-middle order. None of their batsmen showed a fight as Rajasthan added four more points to their bag. For Rajasthan, Jain found good support from young pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti (3/25), while Lomror (1/18), Ravi Bishnoi (1/30), Shubham Sharma (1/17) played his role to perfection.
