Swara Bhasker on boycott trend: Bollywood has been painted as a place only about drugs and alcohol and sex after Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise – Times of India

Swara Bhasker who is quite vocal about her opinions on social media recently talked about the North Vs South debate, why movies in the Hindi film industry are not working at the box office and the boycott trend on social media in a recent interview.

Talking about the same why Hindi movies are not scoring big, Swara stated that post COVID, the audience doesn’t want to get out of their house. The rise of OTT also disrupted the watching experience in theatres. She went on to say that after Sushant Singh Rajput’s unfortunate demise, the film industry has been painted as a ‘dark place that is only about drugs, alcohol and sex.’ She further added that Bollywood is being discredited.

Swara also added that she finds the boycott trend on social media petty and disgusting. She feels that people are blind in their hatred and are forgetting those films they are boycotting are giving livelihood to a lot of people.

On the North Vs South debate, the ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo’ actress stated that only ‘RRR’, ‘Pushpa’ and ‘KGF’ have worked. She added that the South film industry is also delivering a number of movies, however, not all are working at the box office. Giving examples of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, Swara said that the slump is happening across and there are many reasons behind it.

In the end, Swara talked about Aamir’s recent release ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. She stated that it’s not just Aamir’s film but several people have worked on it and everyone should look at the bigger picture.
