However, the actress also faces vicious trolling for her opinion. In a recent Instagram post, Swara opened up about how trolls link her social media posts to a scene from her 2018 film Veere Di Wedding.
On Saturday, Swara shared an Instagram post where she shared a statement made by the actress on the Twitter space. The excerpt from their Twitter Space conversation read, “Social media is a (virtual) public space as are streets and restaurants, but public decency and basic social etiquette created offline are absent online. I can’t even post a picture of a flower after people came out of Veere Di Wedding without linking it to masturbation or referring to ‘Ungli’ (finger).”
The actress further said that trolling is “ugly” and tantamounts to cyber sexual harassment. However, she also reiterated that she feels strongly about succumbing to online bullying or limiting her presence because of it. Swara said that no one should leave the virtual space to hate bigotry and bullying.
Last week the 33-year-old actor became the target of online trolls after he shared a tweet in which he shared his opinion on the Taliban controlling Afghanistan. The actress tweeted that the Indian people cannot be okay with “Hindutva terror” and then expressed her shock at the Taliban terror in Afghanistan. The tweet further read, “We cannot be pacified by the terror of the Taliban, and then all can be enraged at the terror of Hindutva. Our human and moral values should not be based on the identity of the oppressor or the oppressed.”
Tweet angry Many trolls who started the hashtag “arrest swara bhaskar”. Many accused the actress of hurting her “religious sentiments” and even urged the police to pay attention to her tweet.
