Swara Bhaskar, Hansal Mehta call Aryan Khan’s pending bail decision ‘harassment’

The Mumbai Special NDPS Court on Thursday reserved for October 20 its verdict on the bail applications of Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha. During the hearing, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Anil Singh argued that while considering a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the scheme and the purpose of the Act should be kept in mind. Expressing her disappointment over the sessions court’s decision, actress Swara Bhaskar called the process “pure harassment”.

Swara wrote on her Twitter handle, “#AryanKhan #AryanKhanBail Pure Harassment!”

Without naming anyone, filmmaker Hansal Mehta said in a tweet that marijuana/cannabis consumption may be legal in many countries, but in India there is ‘harassment’. “Marijuana/cannabis consumption is legalized in many countries. It has been made decriminalized in many countries. In our country it is consumed more for harassment than for drug control. End this continuing trend. Abolition of Section 377 is necessary for this movement,” he wrote.

Actor Ranvir Shorey today wrote in a tweet pointing to the court’s decision, “It is an age-old habit of the society to punish or benefit parents for what they have done to their children. Regret. #NoteToSelf.”

Meanwhile, Aryan Khan was arrested along with seven others on October 3 after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted a drugs party on a cruise ship. He is currently in Arthur Road Jail. The NCB claimed that the star kid was consuming drugs for some years and was in contact with some people who appear to be part of an international drug network to procure drugs.
