Swara Bhaskar appeared as the only India-based actor who was invited to Bridgeton’s success party in the US. Looks like the actress, who has been posted there for a few weeks, joined her over the weekend and shared pictures from the party. The party was organized by Bridgeton star Simone Ashley, who played the role of storyteller ‘Kate’ Sharma on the show, and was attended by several members of the South Asian community.
For the bash, Swara wore a wine colored sari, which she paired with a matching, sleeveless blouse. At the event, Swara was seen posing with Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan and Richa Moorjani in Never Have I Ever. Lisa Koshy, Kal Penn and comedian Lily Singh were also present on the occasion.
Sharing the pictures on Twitter, Swara wrote, ‘Thank you @netflix @netflixgolden @TeenVogue @versharma for a wonderful evening! Big congratulations #SimoneAshley…totally enjoyed #bridgertonS2 #Kanthony!!!!”
Lily and Kal also shared pictures from the bash. “It was an honor to come together for a little melanin magic for your feed and celebrate our girl @simoneasshley crushing you on @bridgertonnetflix. Not only for her talent but for paving a significant way in South Asians (both pictured and featured) So proud of this beautiful community. Thank you, I will continue to be your hype woman hoorrrrr chakde,” she said.
Swara was seen in the much-acclaimed Sheer Korma. The actress recently won the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in the film at the Soho London Independent Film Festival. Swara stars alongside Shabana Azmi and Divya Dutta in the film and touches on LGBT relationships.
Bridgerton, on the other hand, was a huge hit, with many Indians sharing their reactions to the Indian touch to the series. The series also featured a rendition of the title track of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
