Suzuki Motorcycle India managed to sell 76,230 two-wheelers in the month of July 2022, which included 60,892 units sold in the domestic market, along with 15,338 units that were exported to other markets. This has helped the Japanese manufacturer record a positive year-on-year (YoY) growth of 4.3% as compared to July 2021.
However, the company’s June 2022 sales numbers stood at 68,018 units combined, which means that it recorded a degrowth in month-on-month (MoM) sales by 7,126 units. As of now, Suzuki’s portfolio in India consists of Access 125, Burgman Street, and Avenis scooters, and Gixxer, Gixxer SF, Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF 250, V-Strom SX, V-Strom 650XT, Hayabusa and Katana motorcycles.
The Katana is the latest motorcycle to be launched by the company in India. With a base price of Rs 13.61 lakh (ex-showroom), the motorcycle puts up against the likes of BMW F 900 XR and the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX in the Indian market. Suzuki is offering the motorcycle in India with two colour options – Metallic Mystic Silver and Metallic Stellar Blue.
The Katana is equipped with a 999 cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline four-cylinder engine that belts out 152 PS of maximum power, along with 106 Nm of peak torque. The transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed gearbox. The Katana gets a bi-directional quickshifter with throttle-by-wire, a slipper clutch, as well as a five-level traction control system.
