Coimbatore: A head constable has been suspended Thudiyalur Police for beating up a customer restaurant is run by him.
The arrested policeman has been identified as a 46-year-old juvenile. He was suspended seven months ago after allegations of taking bribes from a massage center surfaced.
Police sources said the teenager was running an eatery in Thudiyalur. Saravanakumar, 38, from Kurunthasaga Nagar had gone to have lunch at the eatery with his friend Deepak in December 2021.
While Saravanakumar had ordered vegetarian food, he was served non-vegetarian. Angered by this, Sarvankumar questioned the supplier. Kishor intervened when there was a verbal quarrel between them. As Saravankumar continued to argue with him, Kishor attacked him with his own hands.
The glasses worn by Saravanakumar broke, leaving his face bleeding. Saravanakumar lodged a complaint with the Thudiyalur police, but the case was not registered.
