The first suspected patient of monkeypox was found in Kolkata, West Bengal on Friday. Health officials say that the youth has recently returned to India from a European country. In early June, a 5-year-old girl in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh was found to have symptoms like monkeypox, after which she was admitted to a local hospital. However, later the test report of the girl came negative, that is, she was not infected with monkeypox.
