Suspected explosion reported in Delhi’s Rohini court, 7 fire tenders leave, police investigation continues

New Delhi: A mysterious explosion was reported at Delhi’s Rohini Court on Thursday morning, news agency PTI quoted fire officials as saying.

Fire officials said that they received information about the blast at 10.40 am, following which seven fire tenders were sent to the spot.

The suspected explosion took place in a laptop bag at Rohini Court while the court proceedings were underway, news agency ANI reported, informing DCP Pranav Tayal. One injured person has been admitted to the hospital, reported ANI.

Proceedings in the court were adjourned after the blast.

Earlier, in September, gunmen present in the courtroom had shot dead gangster Jitendra Gogi, who was present there for the hearing.

According to news agency ANI, the attackers took out weapons from under the clothes of their lawyers and opened fire on Gogi. Special forces personnel rescuing the gangster fired again, in which both the attackers were killed on the spot.

After this incident, the security system in the court came under question.

The Delhi Police had informed the Delhi High Court that the security of all the seven district courts has been taken over by the Security Unit, a special wing of the city police.

Necessary security arrangements and staff were being deployed accordingly.

According to ANI, the Delhi Police also said that the security gadgets installed in the court premises are out of date and should be updated or equipped with high-resolution CCTV and monitors, RF tag/bar code reader features such as 360-degree vehicle scanning, baggage checks and so on. Should be replaced with scanner. and Bag Checking, Scanners for Explosives and NDPS Testing, Boom Barriers etc.

Meanwhile, more details about the explosion are awaited.
