Suryakumar Yadav’s ferocious hitting, including an ‘impossible’ one, impressed Tom Moody as well as Sachin Tendulkar.

Suryakumar Yadav scored a blistering 103 off just 49 balls to help Mumbai Indians beat Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday. During his blistering knock, SKY, who has earned the nickname India’s Mr. 360, played a brilliant cover drive that went for a six towards short third.

Former Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody gave a brilliant response saying that he has seen a lot of shots in his life but never what Yadav did.

The 32-year-old produced one of his best performances in the IPL against Gujarat, that too in a must-win game that helped MI jump to the third spot in the IPL 2023 standings.

While Surya’s innings was filled with some entertaining hits all over the park, there was one particular six that impressed many, including the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

The shot came against Mohammed Shami, who pitched the delivery outside off and Suryakumar slotted it towards short third, and the batsman too got a flick of his wrist to flick the ball over the ropes.

Amol Majumdar and Tom Moody were completely taken aback by the shot, the former calling the hit ‘impossible’, Surya’s outrageous hitting stunned the Australian veteran.

“That particular ball, I don’t think I have ever seen a six over third man with a vertical bat. I’ve seen hits with a horizontal bat, a cut shot going over third man. I have never seen a six hit vertically through the middle of the bat, I have also seen a thick edged fly. Never seen it before in my life!” Moody told ESPNcricinfo.

“I have seen about 10 million balls bowled in my lifetime across all forms of the game, and I have never seen anything like this before. It was totally peppermint. It was in his mind, and not in anyone else’s mind, that he was able to do it,” he further remarked.

Mumbai Indians eventually won the match by 27 runs, the margin could have been huge but Rashid Khan’s 79 to take GT very close to their target could not help his team avoid defeat. Could
