Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the most popular leader in the world. This has come to the fore in a survey by The Morning Consult. According to the survey, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has surpassed 13 heads of state of the world, including US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in the approval rating. PM Modi’s approval rating is 70%.
In this survey updated on 2 September, the Indian Prime Minister is far ahead of many Presidents and Prime Ministers of the world. PM Modi has left behind many big leaders including Mexican President Andre Manuel Lopez Obrador, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, US President Joe Biden in the popularity graph.
The list also includes Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau, British PM Boris Johnson and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
Popularity fell during the second wave of Corona
According to a survey by The Morning Consult, Prime Minister Modi’s disapproval rating (decline in popularity) was at its peak during the second wave of Corona in India (May 2021). Then the lack of oxygen in hospitals due to Corona had badly affected the country. However, the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi soon got rid of this difficult situation.
Approval rating was highest at 84% in May 2020
Prime Minister Modi’s approval rating was the highest in May 2020 at 84%. Then India was coming out of the Corona epidemic. This time the approval rating of Prime Minister Modi has improved as compared to the approval rating released in June this year. PM Modi’s approval rating in June was 66%. Modi’s disapproval rating has also come down. With a fall of around 25%, it is now at the bottom of the list.

This is how approval-disapproval rating is made
The Morning Consult works out the approval and disapproval ratings based on a 7-day moving average. This calculation has a plus-minus margin of 1 to 3 percent. That is, the approval and disapproval ratings can be decreased or increased by 1 to 3 percent. To prepare this figure, Morning Consult conducted online interviews of about 2126 in India.
