Surat: A 39-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in Sachin GIDC area on Tuesday. The local court on Wednesday sent the accused Ajay alias Hanuman Nishad Kewat to six-day police custody.
Kewat, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, had allegedly kidnapped the girl who was playing near her house on Tuesday afternoon. He took her to a secluded place and allegedly raped her.
Police said Kevat is the father of three children – two daughters (aged 17 and 11) and a 14-year-old son. He and his family live in Sachin GIDC area. Police said he recently lost his job.
City Police Commissioner Ajay Tomar said, “I have ordered the police to submit the charge sheet within 10 days.”
