In Khichdi 2, the Parekh family goes on an adventure to save the world with Praful playing a double role and also serving as an emperor of a fictional country Paanthukistan.
Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan finally hit the streaming platform earlier this month. The film is a follow-up to Khichdi: The Movie (2010). It stars Supriya Pathak Kapur, Rajeev Mehta, Anang Desai, Vandana Pathak, Jamnadas Majethia, Kirti Kulhari, Anant Vidhaat Sharma, Reyaansh Vir Chaddha, Flora Saini in prominent roles along with surprise cameos by Farah Khan and Pratik Gandhi. Supriya Pathak who reprised her iconic character of Hansa opened up about the on-screen bond between Hansa and Praful, the future of the franchise and more.

One of the best parts of Khichdi was the bond between Hansa and Praful. Do you have any amusing anecdotes from your on and off-screen interactions with your co-star Rajeev Mehta that you may want to highlight?
The crucial aspect for us, regarding Hansa and Praful, was to maintain their happiness as a couple. This was personally significant to me because I believe that marriages can indeed be happy, despite the diminishing emphasis on joyful relationships in today’s world. I firmly believe that two people can find genuine happiness together, with certain adjustments. For Praful and Hansa, their shared simplicity and innocence required some adaptation. Yet, their relationship is beautiful, characterized by mutual understanding and love. It was essential for us to preserve this happiness, and thankfully, Aatish shared this vision wholeheartedly. Together, we worked to ensure that Hansa and Praful remained a delightful couple on screen. Playing this role was immensely enjoyable, and we were delighted to bring their joyful relationship to life.
For people who haven’t watched the film yet, what message would you like to give to them? Why should they invest their time in watching Khichdi on ZEE5? What will they take away from the film?
For those who haven’t watched the film, I personally request you to do so because it offers something valuable to everyone. It serves as an escape from our stresses, which is crucial in today’s life. The film allows genuine laughter without any trace of negativity, providing an opportunity for families to come together and enjoy it regardless of age. It fosters a beautiful bonding experience where children, adults, and the elderly can share in the joyous moments. Ultimately, it has the power to uplift your spirits, helping you to forget your troubles and worries, and reminding you that life can be quite delightful when we allow ourselves to have fun.
What is next for the Khichdi franchise? Where do you see the franchise and your character 10 years from now?
As a team involved with Khichdi, we are eager to continue portraying these characters for as long as possible. We anticipate creating another movie or web series that will keep the essence of Khichdi alive. Personally, performing as Hansa brings me immense happiness both as an individual and as an actor. It’s an advantage for me, and I have a strong desire to continue portraying her character repeatedly. Looking ahead, I envision that my character, Hansa, will remain unchanged even after 10 years. That’s my belief and hope for the future of the character.
