The Central Government has told the Supreme Court that it is not mandatory to give Aadhar card while registering for the corona vaccine. The government said these things during the hearing in the bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice A Surya Kant on Monday.

In fact, a Public Interest Litigation was filed in the Supreme Court, in which it was said that some vaccination centers were being pressurized for Aadhaar card, after which the court had sought a response from the government.

The court said – the government should ensure
During the hearing, the bench asked the government to ensure that the Aadhar card is not asked for the vaccine. In the court, the government told that the option of documents like passport, ration card, driving license, PAN card and voter card has been given for vaccine registration.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health has said in its affidavit that till now 87 lakh people have been provided with the vaccine without any proof of residence. These include beggars, jailed prisoners and the mentally retarded roaming the streets. After the hearing, the bench said that to get the facility of vaccine, Aadhaar card is not required and all the concerned authorities should follow the rules of the government.

Vaccination of 167 crore people in the country so far
According to the Ministry of Health, so far 167 crore people have been vaccinated in India, in which about 90 crore people above the age of 18 have been given the first dose and 70 crore people have been given both doses. Covaxin, CoviShield and Sputnik-V vaccines are being implemented in India.
