Supreme Court to hear Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair’s plea tomorrow

New DelhiSupreme Court to hear the petition of Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair, The petition challenges the order of the UP High Court which had refused to quash the FIR against him by the UP Police. A bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice AS Bopanna will hear this. Earlier today (July 11) Zubair had filed a bail plea in the Sessions Court in the Delhi FIR case related to an ‘objectionable tweet’.

Additional Sessions Judge Devendra Kumar Jangla will hear the bail plea on Tuesday (July 12).


Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair was summoned on July 11 by a court in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, in a complaint filed on charges of spreading enmity in November last year. The Lakhimpur Kheri police summoned Zubair to appear in court soon. On Friday, he got interim bail from the Supreme Court in a case brought against him in Sitapur for hurting religious sentiments.

The Supreme Court on Friday granted interim bail to Zubair for five days in connection with an FIR registered against him in Sitapur district, but he will remain in custody in another case as per the order of a Delhi court.
