Supreme Court dismisses plea seeking postponement of NEET UG exam 2021 – view details

NEET and Exam 2021: The Supreme Court of India on Monday dismissed a writ petition seeking a direction to the concerned authorities to reschedule or postpone the NEET UG exam 2021. In the petition, the date of CBSE compartment, private, correspondence examinations was asked to conflict with that of NEET UG 2021. test date. But the top court said that the exam will be held on 12 September 2021 as per the schedule.

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court by a batch of students in which they argued that the entrance exam was clashing with other exams. On which the court said that on the basis of the petition filed by some students, the examination date cannot be postponed.

A bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice CT Ravikumar said, “We will not entertain this petition. We don’t want uncertainty, let the exam continue.

The National Testing Agency had clarified to the bench on September 3, 2021 that students would be allowed to appear in the examination, despite the fact that CBSE results would not be declared till then. The NTA had said, “Non-declaration of results will not debar students from appearing in the examination and the results will be sought only during counselling.”

The petition, filed by advocate Sumant Nukala, had sought the suspension of the September 12 public notice of NEET-UG 2021 as “clearly arbitrary and violative of Article 14 of the Constitution of India”. On September 3, while hearing the arguments of NTA’s counsel, the bench had orally told the counsel for the petitioner, “Your complaint is that other examinations will start and till then your result will not be declared. But the relief claimed is unnecessary as the officials say that you will be allowed to appear in the examination.”
