Filmmaker R. Balki has announced his new movie starring Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, Pooja Bhatt and Shreya Dhanwantri in lead roles. Writer-director best known for directing Cheeni Kum, Paa and Pad Man. He is making a film in the thriller genre for the first time.
Talking about getting back to shooting for films, Balki said: “After waiting for months, it is exciting to start shooting for anything. And making a film in a genre that I have never attempted before is even more exciting. I’ve had this idea for a long time, but didn’t quite set out to write it, and while it’s basically a thriller, it relies heavily on these four brilliant actors. I can’t wait to be in the edit room right now.”
On Sunny Deol joining the ensemble, Balki couldn’t hide his excitement: “I am excited to work with Sunny, an actor whose emerging screen presence speaks volumes. I am glad that he is back and hope this new adventure adds a new dimension to his illustrious filmography.”
Balki is also excited to direct the rising star of Malayalam cinema and superstar Mammootty’s son Salman Dulquer. He said: “Dulquer is probably one of the most attractive actors in Indian cinema today, and even though I can’t say much about his role at the moment, I’m really looking forward to his distinctive and sober interpretation. “
Talking about Pooja Bhatt, he said, “Pooja is one of the most versatile actors in our industry and I must thank (writer-director) Alankrita (Srivastava) for giving her yet another exceptional in ‘Bombay Begums’. Got the performance. She is candid and born to be in front of the cameras and on-screen.”
Balki was equally positive about Shreya Dhanwantri. He said: “After seeing her performances in both ‘Scam 1992’ and ‘Family Man’, all I knew was that I would eventually work with this talented girl. She is one of the most exciting and contemporary artists and I admire her. And looking forward to the on-screen chemistry between Dulquer and Dulqueror.”
The upcoming film is expected to release in early 2022.
