Thrissur: Kerala BJP chief K Surendran on Wednesday said the summons summoned to him by the police to appear for questioning in the Kodakara hawala money theft case is nothing but a “political drama”. Surendran, while talking to the media outside Thrissur Police Club, said that the summons was an attempt by the state government to humiliate his party.

He said that in this case, for the first time in Kerala, people are being called for questioning based on the call records of the complainant. The police is not probing who the accused called or who called, rather the agency is probing who all the complainants called.

He was initially summoned to appear for questioning on July 6, but he did not go on that date as his party meeting was to be held on that day. A special team of Kerala Police is probing a complaint filed by Shamjir Samsudin that a gang on April 7 stopped his car at Kodkara flyover in Thrissur district and robbed Rs 25 lakh kept in the vehicle when he was on his way from Kozhikode to Kochi. Were.

Though the complaint stated that only Rs 25 lakh had been stolen, investigators later found that the actual amount may have been around Rs 3.5 crore and was a ‘hawala’ transaction. The police have arrested 21 people in the case.
