Suman Sen’s ‘Eka’ selected for La Fabrice cinema event as part of Cannes

“Eka (Solo)”, Suman Sen’s directorial debut, has been selected at La Fabrique Cinéma de l’Institut Française, a tailored program that celebrates talented young directors from emerging countries as part of the Cannes Film Festival. Backed by Arifur Rahman and Bijan of Bangladesh’s Goopy Bagha Productions and renowned producer Dominic Velinsky of France’s DW Productions, “Solo” was part of NFDC Film Bazaar’s co-production market in 2019 and was also selected by Torino Film Lab Next . (TfL) in 2020.

Rahman said the shooting is likely to start in Kolkata in mid-2222.

“We are currently in the process of auditioning and finalizing the cast and crew and are in talks with some of the best actors and crew from around the world,” the producer said.

“Ever since I first met him, I was convinced that Suman Sen brings a fresh and fresh voice to Indian independent cinema. I already experienced his sensibility and strong political anchoring in a previous short film, The Silent Echo. It’s a pleasure doing it.’ And so I’m also proud to be a part of this new adventure,” said Velinsky.
