‘Sully Deal’ app case: ‘My son is being framed and defamed,’ says accused’s father

New Delhi: The father of a 26-year-old man, who was detained by the Delhi Police in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on Sunday and suspected of being the founder of the ‘Sully Deals’ app, alleged that his son was being falsely accused in the case.

Akhilesh Thakur, father of accused Omkareshwar Thakur, told reporters here that he had no idea about the app and that his son started working from home as a web designer after earning his BCA degree in 2018.

He said two Delhi Police officials reached his residence on Saturday afternoon and after identifying his child, left him for the national capital in the evening.

According to him, the police also took away his son’s phone and laptop from his house.

Akhilesh Thakur was quoted by PTI as saying, “I have come to know that based on the statement of just one person, my son, who is an IT specialist, has been arrested and taken to Delhi. My son is being framed and being defamed.” report good.

He claimed that after earning his BCA degree in 2018, his son started doing web design work from home.

“I am an old-fashioned person. I don’t even know how to operate a mobile phone properly. I don’t know anything about the ‘Sully Deals’ app,” he adds.

The accused’s father said that he was in Nagda town of neighboring Ujjain district when the Delhi Police arrested his son.

He further said that the Delhi Police informed him of his detention on Sunday morning and pressured him to speak to his son.

During the chat, my son urged me not to worry, and he said that he would go to Delhi later in the day to arrange legal aid for his child.

First arrest in Sully Deal App case

Officials reported earlier in the day that the Delhi Police had arrested the accused in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

This is the first arrest in the “Sully Deals” app case.

Hundreds of Muslim women were photographed and molested without permission and put up for auction on a smartphone app.

According to officials, Thakur has earned BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application) from IPS Academy in Indore and is a resident of New York City township.

According to Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO) KPS Malhotra, during preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that he was part of a Twitter group, where the notion of defaming and trolling Muslim women was given.

Indore Police claims that Delhi Police has not given any information on the arrest

Meanwhile, Indore Police on Sunday claimed that their Delhi colleagues did not inform them about their arrest from here.

We have come to know from the media only about Thakur being arrested by the Delhi Police from Indore. Delhi Police has not shared any official information with us in this regard so far,” Indore Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra told PTI.

Mishra further said that if the Delhi Police gives him formal information about the matter, then the Indore Police will consider starting the investigation.

Earlier in the day, Delhi DCP Malhotra said, “He (Sulli Deal app case accused) had developed the code on GitHub. All members of the group had access to GitHub. He shared the app on his Twitter account. The photographs of Muslim women were uploaded by the members of the group.”
