Dealing with PCOS can be incredibly difficult, but making a few lifestyle changes here and there can do a world of good for someone suffering from it.

Many women suffer from PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. The condition alters a woman’s hormone levels. People with PCOS may ovulate less frequently. Missed or irregular periods, excessive hair growth, acne, infertility and weight gain are all symptoms of PCOS. While there is no permanent cure for it, a proper diet can help manage it.

Nutritionist Pooja Makhija said on Instagram that if someone has PCOS then they should take protein. She explains how protein can help in this situation. She claims that protein aids in the regulation of appetite and boosts hormones that help reduce our appetite.

Not just protein, a balanced diet is needed in any situation. Fiber-rich foods are also essential. By slowing digestion and lowering blood sugar levels, high-fiber diets may help fight insulin resistance. Foods high in fiber such as beans, lentils, broccoli, cauliflower, almonds and berries may be beneficial. Foods that reduce inflammation may also be beneficial. These foods include tomatoes, walnuts, spinach, strawberries and blueberries.

While it is easy to understand what to eat, one should also know what not to eat. Refined carbohydrates cause inflammation and impair insulin resistance, and hence should be avoided. These include white bread, sweet desserts or anything made with white flour.
