Sudan conflict update: In the midst of a fierce clash between the Sudanese army and a powerful paramilitary group, the Government of India has issued an advisory for Indian nationals living in Khartoum. In the latest advisory, the government has urged its citizens to stay indoors and maintain calm amid the current situation.

The second advisory issued on Monday morning said, “Dear Indian citizens in Sudan, based on latest inputs the fighting has not subsided for the second day. We sincerely request all fellow Indians to stay where they are and not venture outside.” Do it.”

More than 60 killed in Sudan conflict

Significantly, the sound of continuous firing was heard in Sudan’s capital on Saturday morning amid tensions between the army and the country’s powerful paramilitary forces. Gunfire could be heard in several areas, including in central Khartoum and the neighborhood of Bahri.

Tensions between the military and the Rapid Support Force, known as the paramilitary force, have risen in recent months, delaying the signing of an internationally-backed accord with political parties to revive the country’s democratic transition. As per the latest development, more than 61 people have been killed in the clashes and several reports have claimed that the death toll is likely to exceed 200.

Meanwhile, the Government of India also appealed to its citizens in Sudan to keep basic essentials like medicine, water, money, passport, OCI card food ready to ensure easy mobility.

Indian killed in Sudan

Earlier on Sunday, the Indian Embassy in Sudan had informed about the death of an Indian national in the conflict-prone country. According to the Indian Embassy in Sudan, the victim was identified as Albert Augustine, an Indian national working in a Dal Group company.

It said that Augustine died after being hit by a stray bullet on Saturday. “The embassy is in touch with the family and medical authorities to make further arrangements,” it said.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who had returned from his Mozambique trip, expressed grief over the death of the Indian national in Khartoum. He said that the Embassy in Sudan is making all possible efforts to provide full assistance to the bereaved family.
