Sub-station launched to end the dependence of Garhwa for electricity on Bihar, UP. Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the online 132/33 kV grid on Monday substation in the fugitive Garhwa District. This substation will end the decades-old dependence of the district on Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for electricity. the district was drawing its own Power So far from Sonbhadra in UP and Rihand through transmission lines established in the days of unified Bihar.
The Bhagodih Grid substation has been built at a cost of Rs 26.74 crore and the Power Grid Corporation of India at Palamu will start receiving power directly from the grid. Any dependence on electricity from neighboring states will also not go away with frequent power cuts and low voltage in Garhwa and Palamu districts.
Soren also laid the foundation stone of 132/33 KV Grid Substation at Bhavnathpur, Nagar Untari in Garhwa and 132/33 KV Grid Sub-station at Chhatarpur in Palamu. The twin grid substations will ensure quality power supply in both the districts of Garhwa and Palamu.
Energy Secretary Avinash Kumar said, “The cost of the two projects is estimated to be around Rs 90 crore. General Electric Company is executing these twin projects and it is expected that the work will be fully completed in the next 24 months.”
Soren acknowledged that the residents of Palamu and Garhwa have been facing the twin problems of acute shortage of drinking water and power crisis for the past several decades.
“Both Garhwa and Palamu fall under the rain shadow region of the state. Even during the peak rainy season, the rivers and lakes of these two districts remain mostly dry. The groundwater level has also fallen severely. As a result In addition, the lack of proper power infrastructure, manifested in severe power supply problems, has only added to the distress of farmers, traders, school-going children and the people at large. These districts have been forced to endure prolonged blackouts, barely getting electricity for 2 to 3 hours a day,” Soren said.
“Today is a big day for the people of these districts. Garhwa and Palamu districts will now be assured 24×7 quality power supply. To ensure proper drinking water supply, an irrigation project is coming up fast in Garhwa. We We are continuously monitoring the progress of work at this Garhwa project site to ensure that the project is completed on time,” he said.
State Water Resources Minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur thanked Soren for keeping his party’s poll promise.
