Storing COVID Vaccine for Booster Dose by Rich Countries Will Cause More Deaths Worldwide

A group of experts has urged developed countries to fulfill their responsibilities towards humanity by not stocking COVID-19 vaccines for themselves. The head of the Oxford Vaccine Group said more people around the world could die from COVID-19 if leaders do not share vaccine doses with third world countries.

GAVI Vaccine Coalition Chief Executive Officer Set Berkeley and Professor Sir Andrew Pollard explained the harsh reality that vulnerable people in Third World countries, who have not received a single dose of the COVID vaccine, could succumb to the disease.

Experts cautioned, “Massive booster shots in wealthy countries will send a worldwide message that boosters are needed everywhere. This would reduce the millions of doses of the vaccine in the system, causing thousands of deaths worldwide. Never got a chance to get a single dose of the vaccine.”

“If millions are given boosters for lack of a strong scientific case, the moment when political leaders turned their backs on the rest of humanity during their greatest crisis will always be remembered in history,” he said.

The warning comes at a time when Israel has begun giving the elderly a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, even as the World Health Organization has requested countries that manufacture booster doses at least end the year. Do not give the third dose to the public until after. September.

According to the WHO, doing so will help reduce the huge disparity in the supply of vaccines between rich and poor countries. It has asked governments to introduce a third dose only when other countries, especially third world countries, are able to obtain enough doses to vaccinate large populations with at least one dose.
