After a more than 1 per cent fall in the domestic market on Wednesday, there was a downward trend on Friday. The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 59,967, down 238 points, or 0.4 per cent, in early deals.
Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty 50 was down 60 points, or 0.33 per cent, at 17,832. In the broader markets, the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices declined by 0.01 per cent and 0.02 per cent, respectively.
Among individual stocks, Tata Motors rallied 5 per cent as the company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,043 crore in Q3FY23 after seven consecutive quarters of losses. This came on the back of a strong order book, improved semiconductor chip supply, tempered commodity prices and improved product mix.
