Steve Smith, Aaron Finch ready to be fit for ICC T20 World Cup

Top Australian batsmen Steve Smith and Aaron Finch can be seen in action at the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in UAE and Oman in October-November after a quick recovery from injuries sustained earlier this year.

While Smith, who is recovering from an elbow injury earlier this year during the IPL, has started batting in the nets at the training ground in New South Wales, Australian limited-overs captain Finch, who is currently undergoing knee surgery. Recovering, he is also optimistic about his chances of playing in the ICC T20 World Cup.

Smith, who had to miss tours to West Indies and Bangladesh recently due to a left elbow injury, had earlier said that he would like to prioritize the Ashes over the T20 World Cup if forced to choose. But, now it looks like he wants to play in the T20 World Cup after reports of him having already spent time on the wicket in NSW.

“It (rehab) is going really well (for Smith). I know he has been building up his batting time over the past few weeks – I know it would have been difficult to set a time limit on his net time,” Finch told cricket.com.au on Wednesday.

“From all reports he’s been really strict, making sure he doesn’t overextend his elbows so it hinders his rehab. He’s going really well. Last time I talked to him He wasn’t in pain to bat, so it was really positive. He’s going to be such an important part of our campaign,” Finch said.

Finch is also confident about his recovery from knee surgery, which he recently underwent after an injury during the West Indies tour, and is able to play in the T20 World Cup.

“I have faith in him (being fit for the World Cup). It will at the very least come down to match practice, which I think being older and being around for a long time plays a bit in my hands, due to some injuries (already healed) where you have There isn’t much time. Chain.

“I think this will help me. The surgery went as well as it could and I’m moving around without pain, which is the most important thing at this stage.”

It is expected that Australia can announce its World Cup squad later this week.
