Stephen Robert Irwin (Steve Irwin), also known as the Alligator Hunter, was a television celebrity and wildlife conservationist. It would not be wrong to say that Steve was one of the many people who introduced a generation of children to wildlife and made them accept nature as a beautiful combination of flora and fauna. From teaching us how to catch snakes to making friends with crocodiles, Steve was one of the best conservationists in the world.
The celebrity also founded the Australia Zoo in Brisbane, which later became a popular tourist destination in Queensland. He was also involved in the inspection service “Quarantine matters! Don’t get bogged down with it.” Steve was awarded the Centenary Medal by the Australian Government for his services in promoting Australian tourism.
Most of his life was spent with venomous snakes and crocodiles. The Australian celebrity died of heart failure in 2006 after being bitten by a stingray barb.
