Steps to give autonomy to higher education institutions: Min. Hubli News – Times of India

Dharwad: The state government will take steps to bring in administrative and legislative reforms to provide greater freedom and autonomy to the higher education institutions, state higher education minister CN Ashwath Narayan said.
Speaking after inaugurating the new hostel building and teacher orientation course at the Karnataka State Higher Education Academy (Khia) Feather Hoysala Nagar Here on Thursday, he said the issue would be discussed in the next assembly session.
“India and Karnataka in general are in an advantageous position to reap the benefits of advancement in science and technology and the government will extend all possible help to institutions like KHEA in their endeavours,” he said.

The minister said that a committee would be constituted to look into the reforms to be brought in the universities and the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff.
The High Court recently quashed the appointment of some assistant professors appointed between 2009 and 2014 on the ground that they did not have the required qualifications at the time of appointment, the minister said, adding that he would get the details and then order an inquiry.
