DU VC Yogesh Singh said that CUET admission process will be followed 100 per cent in all colleges including St Stephen’s.

St. Stephen’s College and Delhi University are once again at loggerheads over the admission process. DU VC Yogesh Singh said that CUET admission process will be followed 100 per cent in all colleges including St Stephen’s.

“We are in talks with St Stephen’s College, we believe that this time the way it is stated in the prospectus of the university, it should not have any problem in completing the admission process. Last time they conducted interview only for minority students, this time there will be no interview for non-minority or minority students,” Singh told News18.com.

However, St. Stephen’s College has a different take on the issue. “The matter is in SC. We’ll deal with it right there. I don’t know how one can take such decisions when the matter is in court. We will do whatever the court asks us to do,” principal John Varghese told News18.com.

In April last year, St. Stephen’s College had issued a circular Stating that it will provide admission on the basis of 85:15 (CUET:Interview) formula for all seat categories. Delhi University had then informed St Stephen’s that any admission made by it in violation of the CUET guidelines would be declared invalid. The university also said that there cannot be a separate admission process for one college when the other 62 were taking only CUET score for admission.

St. Stephen’s College later moved the Delhi High Court, which ruled in favor of the university. The court directed the college to issue a fresh admission statement and give 100 per cent weightage to the CUET score. The college challenged the order in the Supreme Court which directed the college to conduct admission for general category on the basis of CUET score and interview minority students for reserved seats.

However, this time the VC of Delhi University says that there will be no interview for general or minority students. Though the Supreme Court had dismissed the petition filed by St Stephen’s in October last year, the college maintains that the matter is still in court and a decision will be taken based on what the court says.
