SS Rajamouli’s RRR raises $1.5 million worldwide through advance booking

SS Rajamouli’s RRR is just a week away from its world premiere, and the film has started well at the box office with encouraging pre-booking figures. The film’s revenue from pre-bookings has already crossed $1.5 million and according to trade analysts, will cross the 2 million mark even before the release date. The collection from Booking is said to be a record for an Indian film.

As part of the promotion, the RRR team released the anthem, Athara Zenda, on Monday. Written by Rama Jogayya Shastri, this song is sung by Vishal Mishra, Prithvi Chandra, MM Keeravani, Sahitya Chhaganti and Harika Narayan and is currently trending.

While the SS Rajamouli directorial will release in IMAX theaters, however, it will not release in IMAX theaters in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This is because no state has an IMAX theater. Prasad Multiplex in Hyderabad, the only IMAX theater in the area, has not used the technology since December last year.

According to reports, the RRR prints have been redone for screening in IMAX theaters across the world. It is the second Telugu film and fourth Indian film to be released in IMAX format.

The film will premiere at the UK’s Odeon BFI IMAX Theatre, making it the first Indian film to be screened on the largest screen in the UK. While there are many rumors about the digital premiere of the film, the makers are yet to say anything officially about it.
