Colombo: Sri Lankabatting coach grant flowers tested positive for COVID-19 On Thursday, 48 hours after the team’s arrival from England and less than a week before the home series against India.
Sri Lanka is set to take on India in a six-match white-ball series starting July 13. Flower has been isolated from the rest of the team which is undergoing a tough quarantine upon arrival.

“Sri Lanka national team batting coach Grant Flower has tested positive for COVID-19,” Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement.

“He was found positive during one” PCR He was tested today when Flower showed mild symptoms of the disease.
“Soon after identification, Flower was isolated from the rest of the team members (players and coaches) who are undergoing quarantine after their return from England,” it further said.

The SLC said that Flower is “now undergoing proper medical protocols.”
All the other players who are quarantining have also been tested.
Flower is a former Zimbabwe batting great and was with the team in England where he lost both T20 International and ODI Chain.

It is unclear how Flower got infected as he was in the team bubble and also came back by the same charter that the Lankan team had.
Already, three Sri Lankan players are facing an investigation for breaching COVID-19 protocols in the UK during the tour. They are Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Mendis and Dhanushka Gunathilke.
The trio were seen hanging out outside Team Bubble in Durham and were immediately sent back home before the tour was over.
The SLC has already announced a five-member inquiry panel comprising Justice Nimal Disnayaka (Retired Judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka), Panduka Kirtinanda (Attorney-at-Law), Asela Rekawa (Attorney-at-Law), Uchitha Wickremesinghe (Attorney). -at-law), Major General (Retd.) MRW De Joysa.
The three players were suspended from all forms of cricket until the investigation was completed.
The SLC did not allow Sri Lankan players to return home from England and it has been a bubble to bubble transfer for the team.
Players are quarantining at a five star facility here ahead of the high profile series against India.
The series in question will help the cash-strapped board generate handsome revenue from the broadcast deal.
SLC managed to persuade 29 of its top 30 players to sign a retainership contract, which was at the center of a bitter pay dispute.
The only player who refused to sign on the dotted lines is Angelo Mathews, indicating that he may even retire.
