They will pick up some positives in the next game, with the spinners taking 13 of 14 wickets while the lower order showed some patience in both the innings.

In reply, West Indies were bundled out for 230 runs. West Indies were at 100/6 before significant contributions from the lower order helped them reduce their lead to 156. The spinners dropped nine wickets, with Praveen Jayavikrama opting for it. Four.

Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews scored half-centuries in the second innings as Sri Lanka declared on 191, setting the Windies a target of 348.

West Indies’ chase got off to a poor start as they collapsed and were reduced to 18/6 late on the fourth day, with Ramesh Mendis scoring four runs. Nkrumah Bonner and Joshua Da Silva opted for a 100-run partnership to make up for the inevitable delay. Lasith Embuldeniya soon ran the rest of the lower order to complete five runs as Sri Lanka won by 187 runs.
