According to Pakistan’s Geo News, SLC and BCB have shown their interest in organizing the Asia Cup 2023, as the tussle to host the multi-nation Asian event is moved out of Pakistan. It is also learned that if Pakistan refuses to participate in the Asia Cup, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will replace the Babar Azam-led team by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Chief Najam Sethi and other PCB officials have been raising their voices against the idea of ​​holding the tournament at a neutral venue. However, the other participating cricket boards coming on the same page with the BCCI is a big blow for Pakistan.

Sethi had proposed a rational approach to resolve the problems regarding Pakistan hosting the AISA Cup later this year. In fact, the PCB chief had even issued a stern warning that if the tournament is moved out of Pakistan, the Men in Green will not travel to India to take part in the ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in October-November 2023. .

“In case of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan to participate in the Asia Cup, it is likely that the Government of Pakistan will not allow the Men in Green to cross the border to participate in the World Cup. In that case, cricket will suffer the most,” said Sethi.

“There should be a middle ground to solve the problems which definitely threaten the smooth hosting of ICC and ACC events. If India refused to go to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, the government would not allow us to come to India to participate in the World Cup matches.

A PTI report claimed that Sethi would travel to Dubai for a meeting with members of the ACC and the International Cricket Council (ICC).
