Sri Lanka announces squad for Women’s World Cup 2023
The Athapaththu-led side will be without the services of all-rounder Hasini Perera, who was initially included in the squad but later ruled out due to a finger injury.
Regular captain Chamari Athapaththu will lead a 15-man Sri Lankan squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20. World The cup is scheduled to take place in South Africa from February 10-26.
The Athapaththu-led side will be missing out on all-rounder Hasini Perera, who was initially included in the squad but was later ruled out due to a finger injury. Satya Sandipani, who had only one appearance for the national team in the 2020 T20 World Cup match against India, has been named as his replacement.
Veteran bowler Ama Kanchana has been called back for the mixing for the first time since the Commonwealth Games.
Sri Lanka have been placed in Group A alongside New Zealand, Bangladesh, hosts South Africa and defending champions Australia. They began their campaign on 10 February with the first match of the tournament against hosts South Africa.
