Losing wickets in a heap has proved to be a curse for them as they failed to get any momentum. If SRH were 30 for 2 in the powerplay in the first game, they scored 43 for one against LSG, only to pull it away, posting 55 for 4 in nine overs.
The return of new captain Aiden Markram also did not change their fortunes as he made a duck. The ability to play spin was behind the rise of Harry Brook but he got the spinners out in both the matches.
At the top-order, SRH tried wicket-keeper Anmolpreet Singh as opener instead of Abhishek Sharma in their last match and he looks promising, but Mayank Agarwal and Rahul Tripathi have been inconsistent.
In fact, it took two cameos from Abdul Samad to take SRH to a decent total in two matches. With big-hitting Heinrich Klaasen waiting in the wings, it remains to be seen what combination they use to propel the batting.
Afghan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqui has been the most consistent for them, but to be fair, the bowlers haven’t had a high enough total to defend, which SRH will need to rectify as soon as possible.

If Kolkata Knight Riders were beaten by seven runs via DLS in Mohali, Rajasthan were crushed by five runs in Guwahati as Punjab put on a brilliant display of their bowling and batting prowess.
Under the captaincy of the experienced and calm Shikhar Dhawan, PBKS rode on their superior batting led by their Indian players to score over 190 and then defend the total with Arshdeep Singh in two matches.

Dhawan has hit two fifties from the front while Prabhsimran Singh and B Rajapaksa have raised their hands when needed as the top-order looks solid.
Among the overseas recruits, Nathan Ellis was sensational against RR in the last match but pace bowling all-rounder Sam Curran – the costliest buy in IPL history till now for Rs 18.50 crore – has leaked plenty of runs so far.
However, on paper, PBKS have the edge and it will take a special effort from SRH to beat them in their den.
