SRH Team Preview IPL 2022: Winner in 2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad is a dim shadow of its former self. He had a public feud with his best player (David Warner), who also happened to be his captain, which only generated bad publicity. Later, when he sat down to choose his team in the mega auctions, he made a big mistake. With two new teams arriving this year, they will have to play with their skins to face the challenge in the second half of the table. To be honest, they don’t have the strength to deal with big guys like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. With Lucknow having a formidable side, SRH are likely to find themselves in the second half for the most part of this tournament which will last over two months!
Strength: SRH have a great bowling lineup! T Natarajan, Marco Janssen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kartik Tyagi and Umran Malik, you name it! The pace department took care, the management did a good job in sealing Washington Sundar, who would be their key spinner. Apart from this, he will also get the support of people like Shreyas Gopal, J Suchit. As for Kane Williamson, he has an excellent man manager who is expected to steer the middle-order full of inexperience. Nicholas Pooran can do a one-man army what the team needs with six-hitting abilities capable of stunning the opposition.
Weakness: a lot of them. The team lacks stability in the middle order. Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma are inexperienced. In a sense, they are unproven objects. And he has some company like Saurabh Dubey. International stars like Aiden Markram and Glenn Phillips may be good cricketers but they are yet to reach their peak in franchise cricket. Now the question is, who will open with Kane? If the captain opens up, can the middle order be left to the likes of Priyam Garg and Aiden Markram? The batting unit is looking shaky.
