Greater Noida: Sports facilities will no longer be confined to residential areas of Greater Noida, as the city’s development authority is set to develop a sports ground with allied services in the notified villages in its area. Initially, facilities like courts for badminton, volleyball and kabaddi, wrestling ring, 1.5 meter wide racing track, open gym and sports area would be made available in the five villages, officials said.
While the design has been approved, soon tenders will be floated for the Rs 1 crore project. Apart from these, two sports grounds will be developed for wrestling ring in Sector 37 Sports Complex at a cost of Rs 60 lakh. Tender for these is under process.
“We have identified five villages in the first phase, where sports facilities will be provided. These villages are Pali, Khodna Khurd, Chuharpur, Saini and Dhoom Manikpur, After this, facilities will be developed by marking sports grounds in other villages. In addition, a wrestling court will be constructed in an area of ​​50 x 15 meters out of the four hectares earmarked for a sports complex in Sector 37, comprising two rings. “These two rings will be 12×12 sqm in size, with one soft and the other hard. Apart from these, there will also be a changing room with toilet and an audience gallery,” the official said, adding that around Rs 60 lakh would be spent on its construction.
GNIDA CEO Narendra Bhushan said ‘under’Khelo Under ‘India’ programme, we have started development of sports facilities in villages under Greater Noida. I have directed the planning department to identify the villages where vacant places are available so that sports facilities can be developed there.
