The multi-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam accused and fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi reached Antigua-Barbuda on Thursday. His pain was clearly visible in the conversation with the media.

Choksi said- ‘I could not even imagine that my business would be closed and properties would be confiscated. Indian agencies will plot to kidnap me. I am back home, but this torture has left a deep mark on me physically and mentally.’

Choksi said, “I have appealed several times to the Indian investigative agencies to come to Antigua for interrogation, but they did not come. I am thinking of returning to India to prove my innocence. For the last 50 days after my abduction, my My health has worsened. I am apprehensive about my safety in India. I do not know if I will return to normal physical or mental condition.”

Choksi reached Antigua by chartered plane
Local media reported that the absconding diamond merchant has returned to Antigua after nearly 51 days in Dominica’s custody. Dressed in a light green shirt and khaki shorts, Choksi flew to Antigua in a chartered plane, Antigua Newsroom reported. Officials from the Foreign Ministry of Antigua and Barbuda met him at the airport.

Doctors had advised an immediate review of Choksi’s medical condition by a ‘neurologist’ and a ‘neurosurgical’ consultant. The ‘CT Scan’ report, dated June 29, was signed by Yerandi Galle Gutierrez and René Gilbert Veranes, physicians at Princess Margaret Hospital in Dominica. “These treatment facilities are currently not available in Dominica,” the report said.

Wanted in Rs 13,500 crore scam
Diamond trader Mehul Choksi, wanted in the Rs 13,500 crore scam involving Punjab National Bank, went missing from Antigua-Barbuda on May 23 under suspicious circumstances. He was later detained for illegally entering the neighboring country of Dominica.

Choksi’s lawyers have alleged that he was abducted by some policemen from Antigua’s Jolie Harbor on May 23. These policemen appeared to be citizens of Antigua and India, who took him in a ferry to Dominica.
