Tamil actor Ajith Kumar’s much-awaited film Valimai is all set to hit the theaters on the occasion of Pongal next year. The surprise announcement of the release date was made by producer Boney Kapoor on Wednesday, 22 September. The producer took to Twitter to make the announcement and wrote, “Happy to announce that #ValimaiPongal will hit the screens on 2022.”
Last month, Ajith wrapped up the shooting of the film in Russia with a short schedule. The actor shot a high-octane stunt sequence in the last schedule.
Earlier this year on July 11, the first look and motion poster video of the film was released. According to reports, the motion poster was widely criticized by fans and some even called it a ‘poor PPT presentation’. Although it got millions of views.
Valimai is a police drama directed by H Vinoth, in which Ajith, better known as Thala Ajith, plays the lead role of a police officer. He will again play the role of a cop after Gautham Menon’s Yenai Arindahal. Apart from Ajith, the film’s cast includes Kartikeya Gummakonda, Huma Qureshi, Yogi Babu, Sumitra and Pugaz in various important roles. Vinoth had earlier worked with Ajith in his film Nerkonda Paravai.
It was earlier predicted that the film’s release date would clash with Superstar Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe, which is all set to hit the screens on Diwali on November 4 this year.
The film is jointly produced by Valimai, two production houses, Zee Studios and Bayview Projects LLP. Cinematography is done by Nirav Shah, Vijay Velukutty is the editor of the film and Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the tracks. This action-packed film has been in the making for almost two years.
