SP submitted memorandum to Election Commission on missing EVM-laden truck in Varanasi

new Delhi: The Samajwadi Party and its allies on Tuesday alleged that two trucks carrying Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have gone missing after the seventh and final phase of the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, which was held on March 7.

In a memorandum submitted to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Lucknow, the SP and its allies Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and Janwadi Party (Samajwadi) made the allegation, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

“We have submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission that EVMs are missing along with EVMs in Varanasi and ran away with EVMs,” SP spokesperson Rajendra Choudhary was quoted as saying in a PTI report.

“We have taken cognizance of the matter. Action will be taken as per the provisions of the law.” Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Electoral Officer BDR Tiwari told PTI.

According to the report, Choudhary said that he, along with SP’s UP unit chief Naresh Uttam, SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar and Janwadi Party (Samajwadi)’s Sanjay Chauhan, submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission regarding EVM-laden disappearances. truck in varanasi

Chaudhary said, ‘We have also demanded the removal of the District Magistrate of Varanasi and the Divisional Commissioner of Varanasi Division.

Shortly after, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to “steal” votes, and said exit polls were meant to create an impression that the saffron party would emerge victorious in the Uttar Pradesh elections. Chaudhary made the allegation as per the report.

In a press conference, Choudhary also alleged that government officials in Lucknow were instructing their subordinates to slow down the counting of votes in the districts. He also said that subordinates are being instructed to extend the process of counting of votes till late in the night, where as per reports the chances of BJP winning the election are slim.
