SP doc on Kovid protocol violation: Akhilesh Yadav appeals to everyone to follow the guidelines of the Election Commission

New Delhi: Hours after Lucknow Police put up notices outside Samajwadi Party’s office in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow, party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday appealed to all leaders and workers to follow the guidelines issued by the Election Commission.

Yadav said, “I appeal to the leaders, party workers to follow the guidelines of the Election Commission, COVID protocol whenever they come to the office. I have also heard that a notice was also put up in our office today. “

The notice was placed under section 144 by the Samajwadi Party earlier on Friday in view of the violation of the model code of conduct and the Kovid-19 protocol.

Earlier on Friday, a case was registered under the Epidemic Act for a large crowd gathered at the Samajwadi Party headquarters for allegedly violating the Election Commission’s guidelines.

Before the assembly elections, a huge crowd gathered during the induction of several leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including former Uttar Pradesh minister Swami Prasad Maurya, in the Samajwadi Party.

Union Minority Affairs Minister and senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Friday attacked the Samajwadi Party for “breaking protocol for political goals”.

The Election Commission has announced a number of precautionary and proactive measures for the five polling states, including a complete ban on physical rallies and road shows till Saturday, in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases.

Voting for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
