The SP chief’s remarks came after meeting Kejriwal in Lucknow amid AAP’s efforts to garner support against the Centre’s ordinance.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday assured his party’s support to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against the Centre’s ordinance on deregulation of services in the national capital.

The SP chief’s remarks came after his meeting with Kejriwal here amid AAP’s efforts to garner support against the Centre’s ordinance.

Addressing a press conference here, Yadav said his party would support AAP on the issue.

Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, is reaching out to leaders of non-BJP parties to garner support against the ordinance so that the Centre’s attempt to replace it through a bill in Parliament is thwarted.

The Center had on May 19 promulgated an ordinance to create an authority for transfer and posting of Group-A officers in Delhi, which the AAP government termed as a hoax with the Supreme Court’s judgment on deregulation of services.

The ordinance came a week after the Supreme Court handed over control of services in Delhi, except police, public order and land, to the elected government. It seeks to set up a National Capital Civil Services Authority for transfer and disciplinary proceedings against Group-A officers of DANICS cadre.

Prior to the apex court’s May 11 verdict, transfers and postings of all officers of the Delhi government were under the executive control of the lieutenant governor.
