SP chief Akhilesh Yadav accuses BJP of making fun of UP district panchayat elections

Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday hit out at the ruling BJP, hours after the results of the district panchayat president’s election results were declared. BJP got 67 out of 75 seats, while SP got only six seats.

Accusing the BJP of dishonesty with the help of the administration in several districts, Yadav said, “Today in the election of district panchayat presidents, the ruling party has made fun of free and fair elections. You have never seen such a disgusting face of power. To convert its defeat into victory, BJP used force with the help of police and administration to kidnap voters, prevent them from voting and get members to vote in their favour. Samajwadi workers were beaten up for raising their voice against the rigging of the BJP.

The strange thing is that in the election of district panchayat members, where most of the results came in favor of the Samajwadi Party and the BJP had to face defeat, now the BJP has come to a majority on the strength of rigging in the election of district panchayat presidents. Power. The complicity of administrative officials has also come to the fore. Administrative officers should remember that strict action will be taken against those found indulging in suspicious activities in favor of the ruling party by violating the service rules.

The SP chief also alleged that despite submitting a memorandum to the State Election Commissioner, Panchayati Raj, no action was taken. “The dictatorship of the ruling party was visible in the election of district panchayat presidents in Uttar Pradesh. Arun Rawat, a pro-Samajwadi Party Panchayat member, has been kidnapped in the state capital Lucknow. Samajwadi Party’s presidential candidate Vijay Lakshmi was made to sit in the DM’s office and her husband MLA Ambareesh Pushkar was also prevented from meeting her. When they protested, Samajwadi Party workers and women were assaulted.

Attacking the BJP further, the SP chief said, “In the election for the post of District Panchayat President of Prayagraj, BJP people violated the secrecy of voting by installing electronic devices at the polling booth. Despite the order of the court in district Firozabad, 6 voters were stopped.

“Today in the year 2022, the public is ready to give the answer to the BJP for the rigging in the election of the post of District Panchayat President. Democracy will be restored only after the formation of the Samajwadi Party government and only then justice will be done to the people.
