SP Alliance: Akhilesh went with a different partner in every election since 2017, the elections ended together, what is the reason for them?

hear the news

After the election, the troubles are not decreasing for Akhilesh, who contested the 2022 assembly elections in alliance with several smaller parties. First uncle Shivpal Yadav got angry. Then the news of Azam Khan getting angry went on for months. After the Rajya Sabha elections, the alliance partner Mahan Dal left. Now there is speculation of another party involved in the Samajwadi Party alliance leaving the alliance.

It is being said that Om Prakash Rajbhar’s party Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party can also leave the alliance. This is not the first time for Akhilesh to break the alliance before the election and after the end of the election. This is seen in every election after the struggle in the family for supremacy over the party in 2016. That is, ever since the party came under the control of Akhilesh Yadav, it was seen in every election held after that.

Akhilesh got new allies before the elections. Since then, none of the elections have yielded the expected results. After the result, sometimes the colleague left, and sometimes Akhilesh himself distanced himself from him. Let us know when did SP contest elections in the last ten years? What has been the result of the election? What effect did the result have on his alliance?

2012: SP came to power by contesting alone

In 2012, the Samajwadi Party contested on 401 assembly seats. He did not field candidates on two seats. Raja Bhaiya in Kunda and Vinod Sonkar, close to Raja Bhaiya in Babganj, did not field candidates. Both contested the elections as independents with the support of SP and won. However, now the relationship between the two is very tight. Raja Bhaiya, who was once a minister in the Akhilesh cabinet, has now formed his own party. His party got two seats in the 2022 elections. These are the same seats that Raja Bhaiya and Vinod Sonkar have been winning as independent candidates.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the SP did not form an alliance with any party. The party contested 78 of the state’s 80 Lok Sabha seats. The party did not field candidates in support of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in Amethi and Rae Bareli seats.

2017: Akhilesh surrounded by house took Rahul’s support

The Samajwadi Party forged an alliance with the Congress before the 2017 assembly elections. In these elections, SP fielded candidates on 311 seats. At the same time, the Congress contested on 114 seats. Even after the alliance, the candidates of both were face to face in 24 seats. Like in 2012 in Kunda and Babaganj, SP supported Raja Bhaiya and Vinod Sonkar in 2017. Congress and SP did not field their candidates in these two seats. This was the same period when Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav were fighting for the possession of SP. Akhilesh, who was alone in the family, took the support of the Congress. However, he did not get the expected success in the election. Akhilesh had to lose power.

2018: SP-Congress separated in Lok Sabha by-election, foundation of alliance with BSP was laid

About a year after the elections in Uttar Pradesh, by-elections were held for Phulpur and Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seats in the state. Congress and SP parted ways in this election. Both fielded their candidates on these seats. During the campaign for the Lok Sabha by-elections, Akhilesh Yadav gave the reason for the rift in the alliance. Akhilesh claimed that Congress’s behavior changed after it did well in the Gujarat Assembly elections.

In this by-election, the foundation of a new alliance of SP was laid. The BSP did not field its candidates during the by-elections. The party did not campaign for the SP, but gave a message to its voters to cast their votes in favor of the SP candidates. In this by-election, SP won both the seats. The major reason for this victory was considered to be the association of BSP. This is where the foundation of the SP-BSP alliance was laid for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

2019: SP-BSP came after 26 years, alliance did not last even 26 weeks

After the announcement of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati announced the SP-BSP alliance. Along with both the parties, Jayant Chaudhary’s party Rashtriya Lok Dal was also a part of this alliance. BSP fielded candidates on 38 seats, SP on 37 seats and RLD on three seats. The alliance did not field its candidate from Amethi and Rae Bareli seats in favor of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Before the results, it was being claimed in most of the surveys that the BJP would suffer the most in this election in Uttar Pradesh. The SP-BSP alliance will get a big success. However, nothing like this happened in the results. The BSP won only ten seats. At the same time, the SP could win only five seats like in 2014. A few days after the results came, Mayawati announced to break the alliance with the SP. Mayawati said that during the election, Akhilesh failed to get SP votes to BSP candidates.

2022: Took small parties together, separated after the results

In the 2022 elections, instead of an alliance with a big party, the SP made small parties. Akhilesh’s old aide Jayant Chaudhary was also with him. Apart from Jayant’s party RLD, Akhilesh forged alliances with parties like SP’s Mahan Dal, Apna Dal (Communist), SubhaSP, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party.

It was only after the election results that the news of displeasure of the allies started pouring in. The first name that came to the fore was that of Akhilesh’s uncle and Praspa chief Shivpal Yadav. Shivpal, who fought on the SP’s election symbol, got angry over not being invited to the very first meeting of the SP MLAs.

During the Rajya Sabha elections, Akhilesh sent Jayant Chaudhary of RLD to Rajya Sabha from the quota of SP. This angered Keshav Dev Maurya of the great party. He distanced himself from the alliance. Now Subhaspa chief Om Prakash Rajbhar is said to be angry due to the son not getting a ticket in the Legislative Council elections.
