South Eastern Railway becomes the second fully electrified zone in the country – Rail Hunt

Kolkata. South Eastern Railway (SER) has achieved 100 percent electrification of the route with the completion of work on the Rupsa-Bangriposi section of Kharagpur division. In this way the zone is completely electrified. South Eastern Railway spokesperson K. s. Anand told the media that the Kolkata-headquartered railway zone has become the second zone in the country after West Central Railway to fully electrify its route.

He said that the completion of electrification work will help in smooth running of trains. Earlier in March 2021, West Central Railway had emerged as the country’s first fully electrified zone. On March 30, Chief Railway Safety Commissioner of North Circle Delhi SK Pathak inspected the 23 km section of Kota-Chittaurgarh section from Srinagar to Jalandhari railway station in the zone and saw the engine running at a speed of 90 kmph.

In this way, in the railway zone of the country, South Eastern Railway has registered its name at number two, achieving the goal of complete electrification.
