Indian teen star Shafali Verma tops T20 rankings with 759 points

India captain Mithali Raj on Tuesday rose to the top with South African opener Lizelle Lee, whose 91 not out in the opening match against the West Indies helped her rise to the joint number one spot in the ICC Women’s ODI Rankings. Mithali, who retains her number one position, is now in first place with Lee with 762 rating points, Australia’s Alyssa Healy in third, India opener Smriti Mandhana also in her ninth position.

Lee, who took the top spot for the first time in June 2018 and peaked again in March this year, scored 18 runs in the second match, which also counted in this week’s ranking update. Veteran Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami and senior spinner Poonam Yadav have retained their fifth and ninth positions, respectively, while Deepti Sharma has retained her fifth position in the all-rounders’ list.
