‘Sourav Ganguly is still the president of BCCI’: Treasurer Arun Dhumal

Sourav Ganguly has not resigned as chairman of the Board of Control Cricket In India (BCCI), treasurer Arun Dhumal told IANS.

There have been reports on social media that the former India captain has resigned after succeeding as the BCCI President. Speculations started after Ganguly shared a post on Twitter.

“2022 is the 30th year since the beginning of my journey with cricket in 1992. Since then, cricket has given me a lot. Most importantly, it has given me the support of all of you. I want to thank everyone who has been a part of the journey, who supported me and helped me get to where I am today,” tweeted Ganguly.

Soon after the post, reports surfaced that Ganguly was joining politics, and that he had decided to leave the BCCI for the same reason.

However, Dhumal categorically denied the report and called it “nonsense”.

“He is still the president of the BCCI,” the treasurer said.

Ganguly was elected as the President of BCCI in 2019. Before taking charge in BCCI, the former India captain was the President of Cricket Association of Bengal.
