Sooryavanshi Box Office Collection: Rohit Shetty’s Akshay Kumar starrer crosses 150 crore mark in 10 days

Film critic and film trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news on his Twitter on Monday. He wrote, “#Sooryavanshi [Week 2] Crosses Rs 50 crore… Record of excellent numbers [second] Surya…if it maintains continuity on weekdays and weekdays 3, there is a strong possibility of crossing Rs 200 crores… Venus 6.83 crores, Shani 10.35 crores, Surya 13.39 crores. In a subsequent tweet, he continued, “#Sooryavanshi biz at a glance. Week 1: 20.66 cr. Weekend 2: Rs 30.57 cr. Total: 51.23 cr #Bharat biz.” Meanwhile, thanking the audience for making the achievement possible, Rohit shared an Instagram story which read, “Thank You India 151.23 CRS India Collections (10 Days).

In an interview with PTI, Shetty said that it was not easy to put the project on hold for 19 months and recalled how his decision to release the film in theatres was being considered a fatal step. “We fought for about 19 months, where everyone told me my decision was wrong. Even by Thursday, a lot of people were like, ‘He’s mad, no one is going to come to the theatres.’ But there was a belief that they would come. We analyzed a lot of things – Ganesh Utsav, Navratri, how schools and malls started opening, and how people started going back to work.
“When all this was happening, I knew people would come to the theatres. Somebody had to make the first move. I knew I had to take a risk and now I think it was worth taking. It wasn’t just about me.” , but also the livelihood of all those involved in the theatrical business,” said the filmmaker.
The film, which released on November 5, has come alive at the box office after a one-and-a-half year slowdown due to the lockdown caused by the COVID pandemic. It was earlier scheduled to release on March 24 last year. ‘Sooryavanshi’ is a continuation of the cop action ‘Singham’ universe, which began with Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Singham’ and ‘Singham Returns’, then expanded with ‘Simmba’, which featured the lead roles. Ranveer singh And Devgn, and now moving on to the character of Akshay.
The previous films were at the forefront in terms of box office collections and viewership. In ‘Sooryavanshi’, Akshay plays the role of a DSP who fights crime. Katrina plays Akshay’s girlfriend in the film.
The film also has special cameos by Ajay Devgn (Singham) and Ranveer Singh (Simmba).
