In an interview with PTI, Shetty said that it was not easy to put the project on hold for 19 months and recalled how his decision to release the film in theatres was being considered a fatal step. “We fought for about 19 months, where everyone told me my decision was wrong. Even by Thursday, a lot of people were like, ‘He’s mad, no one is going to come to the theatres.’ But there was a belief that they would come. We analyzed a lot of things – Ganesh Utsav, Navratri, how schools and malls started opening, and how people started going back to work.

“When all this was happening, I knew people would come to the theatres. Somebody had to make the first move. I knew I had to take a risk and now I think it was worth taking. It wasn’t just about me.” , but also the livelihood of all those involved in the theatrical business,” said the filmmaker.
