CHENNAI: Congress president Sonia Gandhi and leaders of several other parties responded positively to Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK leader MK Stalin‘s request to depute representatives to the All India Federation for Social Justice. Sonia Gandhi has designated senior leader M Veerappa Moily as representative of the party in the federation.
She handed over a letter in this regard to TR Baalu, leader of the DMK parliamentary party, who called on her in Delhi on Monday. Baalu met the Congress leader to hand over MK Stalin‘s letter requesting her to depute a representative. Baalu ​​also met Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi on the occasion.
Baalu ​​called on CPI general secretary D Raja and CPM leader Sitaram Yechury to invite them to be part of the federation. Congratulating the efforts of the TN chief minister, Raja stated in a letter that the party would be part of the federation to protect the rights of the marginalised sections of the society. He stated that he would meet Stalin in person to discuss it in detail, said a statement from DMK.
Yechury appreciated the TN chief minister for taking up the ideology of social justice nationally and expressed his willingness to be part of the federation.
People’s Democratic Party leader Mehabooba Mufti applauded Stalin’s initiative and assured to extend full support to his efforts.
