Sonal Chauhan of Jannat remembers singer KK: ‘The voice that introduced me to the world’

Jannat fame Sonal Chauhan paid an emotional tribute to late singer KK on Instagram. The singer sang memorable songs in the Emraan Hashmi starrer.

Krishnakumar Kunnath, whose stage name was KK, passed away on May 31, hours after a concert in Kolkata. The Indian film and music industries were shattered and their fans heartbroken as the news surfaced on the internet. The 53-year-old singer collapsed in the hotel where he was staying after the concert. He was taken to CMRI Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. His demise left the entire nation in shock and grief and condolences poured in from the audience and celebrities alike for his family.

KK’s music was unmatched. Some of his songs from Emraan Hashmi and Sonal Chauhan’s film Jannat became huge hits. Zara Saa Ya Ya Tu Hai, KK’s melodious voice was probably one of the major contributors to the success of the film.

Expressing her grief, Sonal Chauhan posted on her social media account, “A voice that probably means a little more to me than others. A voice that introduced me to the world that defines me. A voice which is probably the reason why the nation fell in love with Zoya. And a voice that later (Kaise Baatein Tujhe) got the honor of working, whenever KK sir touched my life, he created magic. And that was his gift. His magic went beyond physical limits and touched millions of souls. KK sir you will always be special to me. Thank you for adding your magic to my life. gone too soon. I wish you had stayed a little longer.”

Soon after the post was shared, fans of the late actor started paying tributes. While a fan wrote, “Rest in soulful tracks ️.” Another wrote, “His voice will live on forever.”

Audience members who attended the concert on Tuesday said the indoor Nazrul stage auditorium was overcrowded and the air conditioning was not working properly. KK too was feeling the heat on the stage and asked the organizers to dim the lights on him. It is said that he had also complained to the organizers about the crowd around the stage.

KK’s live concert continued till 8:30 pm and he suddenly fell ill and returned to his hotel.
